PRODUCT REVIEW: Fun Factory Period Cup

Fun Factory Period Cup

Priced at: $26

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I opened up the box and my senses already navigated to feel the silicone. Wow, she’s soft. The kind of soft that you want to rub against your face, at least for me. The color is vibrant, thew shape is curvy, and overall does not look like something that blood goes into. SCORE ONE!

The cup is also super flexible, I was able to easily figure out where to squeeze the top to create the shape that then gets inserted inside. So far so good.

The ending has a little tip that reminds me of an elf hat, leaving this cup pretty deep, I felt confident that it would hold a heavy flow for a few hours, let alone the whole day like it advertises.

If you are someone like me who has been on the fence about reusable cups, then I hope this helps calm your nerves! I have tried everything from the diva cup, the flex reusable and disposable cups, I even gave the Lelo menstrual cup a go.

The difference with those cups and the Fun Factory Cup, is that this one is a completely different shape. This menstrual cup here looks like a huge condom. For me, it didn’t work out in my favor. Of course every vulva is different so I only base off my personal experience, but long story short, I ended up throwing away the pair of pants that I wore this cup with. BIG NO GO!

The inserting process is fairly simple. Don’t be afraid to explore up there before hand so you get an idea of what you are working with. YES, explore your vulva if you haven’t.

PRO SECRET TIP: I use a mirror and lay it in front of me while I sit down, I navigate down there so that if I ever was put to the test to point out my own vagina from 10 others, I would pass with flying colors.

I bring this point up because in order to even become comfortable with a product like this, you need to feel comfortable in general down there! This helped me become super familiar with my own body, as if I felt out of touch before I did this.

BENEFITS TO REUSABLE CUPS

I was always super hesitant to try something new. Pads and tampons are our backbones. We are super reliant on these girls only because this is what we know best! When I got my period at the age of 12 it took me years to even look at a tampon. Once I figured out the science of inserting a tampon, I started to experience discomfort, sometimes the flow isn’t heavy enough and it hurts to put in a tampon, I am sure we have all been there.

With this, I didn’t think about the discomfort from the cotton rubbing against me. So, I decided I wanted to change it up. I also took into consideration of the amount of waste that pads and tampons become of. Down to the plastic applicator, and even the cotton inside. Not to mention we spend about $20 for just a box of tampons, which should be free in my opinion! But I compared prices and its a COMPLETE win for a $26 cup, which will last you a great amount of time if you take care of it correctly. You could save so much money, and also feel environmental friendly when it’s your time of the month.

ALL HAIL THE MAGIC CUP

The best way to keep your period cup in perfect condition is to take time to really care for her.

When you first get it, it is recommended to sterilize it first of course. Just like a silicone dildo, I use this rule of thumb to never use any soap for your vag if you would not use it on your face. This is a super sensitive area of course and we treat her like she is on a THROWN!

Turn on a pot of water and bring it to a boil. Put the cup in the water for just a few minutes, and of course leave it to cool down before inserting.

Once you successfully give her a go and place it in correctly, what come’s up must come down… which leads us to taking out the cup.

Don’t be nervous like me, it truly was not that bad. I was able to clip the end of the cup with my nail and drag it right out. You just need to grab it a little bit to feel it start to slide out, perfect.

CLEAN HER GOOD

Dump her out into the toilet and run it through some warm water. This time, let’s use some dove unscented soap or any UNSCENTED soap of your choice, and give it a good rinse.

If you do not clean it thoroughly after every use, you are asking for bacteria, odors, and infections to creep up on you. This is the most important factor to think of when using a period cup in general.

Do I have the time and dedication to care for my cup fully? If the answer is no, then stick to the tamps and pads. However, if you say yes, then you’re in perfect shape to use one of these. Once you become a fully menstrual cup girly, you won’t be as nervous for your period to come.

This cup is a 12 HOURS LEAK FREE experience for you. Not to mention Fun Factory has even added two different sizes. This accommodates for any vulva owner who is new to the game, or has given birth and needs a little bit of a bigger cup. I love the variety of sizes, colors, and feels that this menstrual cup has to offer. To top it off, it comes with it’s very own travel bag so you never have to misplace her again, AMEN!

This is your sign to switch from cotton to reusable ;) You will thank me later… I promise.
